The former Arsenal coach has agreed to a move to be Parma’s new manager. Carlos Cuesta is one of the best coaches in football, serving the Premier League runners-up for the third time under Mikel Arteta. At 29 years old, he sets himself to become Serie A’s youngest manager and one of Europe’s top 5 leagues.
Cuesta is replacing Cristian Chivu, who became Inter Milan manager early this month. Parma and the Spanish manager have agreed on a two-year contract. The Serie A outfit managed to stay in Italy’s top tier by finishing last season just 5 points above the relegation zone.
I Crociati gives the opportunity of managing the club to a young and energetic manager. This is the way many clubs prefer to deploy for the future of football. Just two seasons ago, Parma was playing in Serie B and will do everything in their power to keep the team in Serie A next season.
Cuesta has coached and improved players’ performances on the pitch. He had a number of opportunities to showcase his expertise in individual development and management. Especially during his time at Atlético Madrid, Juventus, and Arsenal. Lately, he oversaw the rise of the level of players in the Arsenal squad, lifting them from a mid-table team to a title contender in three consecutive seasons.
On his way to becoming a manager.
At Arsenal, Cuesta focused mainly on individual development. However, as time went on, he became more involved in the game. Mikel Arteta has integrated his fellow Spaniard into the technical aspect of the game, like the set-pieces, coach, Nicolas Jover. He is now one of the trusted members of Mikel Arteta’s backroom staff.

Being his first time as manager, Cuesta joins his fellow Spaniards Claudio Gilardez of Celta de Vigo (37), Inigo Perez of Rayo Vallecano (37), and Cesc Fabregas of Como (38) in a list of young managers in Europe.
Despite his age, Carlos is highly rated among his fellow coaches at Arsenal. His move to Italy will only be the start of something big. Welcome to Serie A.
