Rumors: Bayern Munich in talks over a possible transfer for Gabriel Martinelli.

Bayern Munich is in talks over a possible transfer for Gabriel Martinelli. Early this week, rumors circulated that Bayern Munich added Gabriel Martinelli’s name to a possible transfer. Seeing that the Bavarians missed out on Florian Wirtz to Liverpool and potentially Nico Williams to Barcelona, they are forced to turn their attention to other targets.

The German giants are ready to offer £50m for a 24-year-old Brazilian, as reported by The Mirror. Martinelli is still under contract with Arsenal until 2027 and has a good relationship with his manager, Mikel Arteta.

The Brazilian has been brilliant throughout his career at the Emirates since his move back in 2019 from Ituano. A couple of injuries, followed by a slight dip in form in the previous two seasons, raised some eyebrows among the fan base. This suggests an immediate upgrade down the left-hand side.

Martinelli scored eight goals and provided four assists in 33 league matches in 2024/25, and six goals and four assists in 35 league matches for the 2023/24 campaign. His best season was in 2022/23, where he scored 15 goals and 5 assists in 36 matches.

Arsenal has been in contact with several wide attacking players. Nico Williams’ name was frequently mentioned in transfer windows for two consecutive seasons. Recently, Real Madrid’s star, Rodrygo, was named as the main target for the Gunners this summer.

Bayern Munich has already lost Leroy Sane to Galatasaray. Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry are in their 29s. Harry Kane is now 31 years old, and Thomas Muller is near the end of his career at 35. The future of Bayern Munich’s attacking lies with Jamal Musiala and Gabriel Vidovic. Replacing Leroy Sane this transfer window should be a priority for Bayern Munich.

Martinelli’s future.

Mikel Arteta has been asking the Brazilian winger to operate very far from the goal. With that, he gives the opportunity to the likes of Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard to explore more near the target.

These changes hinder Martinelli’s chances of adding goals to his game, if he even starts. Leandro Trossard has been consistent every time he gets the nod. The Belgian International converted his chances more than the Brazilian’s output.

If a left winger is to be signed this transfer window, then Martinelli will be facing more bench time than game time. A decision must be made in such a scenario that will benefit the parties involved.

The future of the player depends on whether Arsenal are ready to let him leave. However, Martinelli has been open about his love for the club. That does not mean he will not be attracted to the idea of playing for Bayern. What if he is not a guaranteed starter?

Bayern Munich with English Premier League stars.

Bundesliga winners have been handsomely rewarded for their investments in England. Recently, they recruited Michael Olise from Crystal Palace. A fantastic piece of business. Olise represented his new club in the previous season. He played 34 Bundesliga games, scored 12 goals, and provided 15 assists. He was named Bundesliga Rookie of the Season for 2024/25.

Before Olise, Bayern acquired one of the best strikers in the world, Harry Kane, from Tottenham Hotspur. The England international grabbed his new challenge with both hands. He scored 36 and 26 goals in the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons, respectively, and won the Golden Boot award in both seasons. He was named Bundesliga Player of the Year for the 2024/25 season.

Perhaps Martinelli is the right call from Vincent Kompany, a former Premier League winner with Manchester City.
