The Bundesliga is returning on Friday night. And what a way to welcome football fans in Germany with a Bayern Munich vs RB Leipzig clash. Allianz Arena is waiting for the new faces on the pitch.
Bayern Munich vs RB Leipzig
Bundesliga defending champions will host RB Leipzig in the first game of the 2025/26 season. Heading into the new season, RB Leipzig will be without Benjamin Sesko, who joined Manchester United a couple of days ago. On the other hand, Bayern Munich will be happy to see Luis Diaz from Liverpool.
Last time these two met at Allianz Arena, there were 6 goals at full-time. Jamal Musiala fired Munich with an early goal before Benjamin Sesko equalized. Later on, Joshua Kimmich launched a stunner strike to put Bayern 3-1 before half time. Vincen Company men finished the game with a 5-1 victory over The Red Bulls.
The pair met again at Red Bull Arena in May 2025. Sesko scored a beautiful goal with the outside of his foot to put Leipzig in front. Although Leipzig led by 2 goals at halftime, Munich fought back and drew the game 3-3.

The Red Bulls will be excited to see some new faces in the attacking position. The German club finalized the deal to replace departing Benjamin Sesko with the Brazilian Romulo. The 23-year-old striker played in Turkey for Goztepe.
There is a possibility of losing another quality player. The situation of Xavi Simons is still not clear. He is strongly linked with the move to Chelsea. Leipzig is currently exploring the deal for Harvey Eliotti from Liverpool in case of Xavi’s departure.
Bayern will miss the services of Jamal Musiala for some time. The midfielder suffered a broken leg while on Club World Cup duties. In his place, the Colombian winger will be introduced in the Bundesliga for the first time. Exciting times for the Bundesliga fans, especially Bayern Munich fans.
Bayer Leverkusen vs Hoffenheim
Another fixture to look for in the Bundesliga this coming Saturday, Leverkusen welcome Hoffenheim at BayArena. The Neverkuse will start the new season with new manager Eric Ten Hag, who replaced Xavi Alonso. The Spaniard is currently Real Madrid’s manager.
Leverkusen will be without key members of their squad. Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong signed for Liverpool, while Granit Xhaka signed for Sunderland. Jonathan Tah left the club for Bayern Munich and will be replaced by the signing of Lois Bade from Sevilla.

Patrik Schick will have to do the job up front for Ten Hag’s men. Providing the team with a threat in front of the goal in the hope of continuing their five straight wins against Hoffenheim.
Saturday fixtures
Same time on Saturday, Eintracht Frankfurt will open their campaign by facing Werder Bremen at Deutsche Bank Park. Freiburg up against Augsburg. Heidenheim and Wolfsburg will face each other at the Voith Arena, while Union Berlin welcomes Stuttgart. The late fixture of the day will be St. Pauli against Borussia Dortmund.
Sunday encounters
The Bundesliga Sunday will start with Mainz against FC Köln. It’s a huge season for Mainz with European competitions, while the Billy Goats made an immediate return in the Bundesliga after relegation in 2023/24.

The first week of the German Bundesliga will be completed with Borussia Monchengladbach facing newly-promoted Hamburger SV. Last time these two faced each other, Humburger won 2-1 in the 2017/18 season before relegation.
