Manchester United outcast heading to Serie A

Manchester United have agreed a loan deal with an obligation to buy for Rasmus Højlund to SSC Napoli. Despite his willingness to stay, Højlund is forced to look for another club because of Benjamin Sesko’s arrival.

Manchester United will receive €6m loan fee for the Dane striker, and a €44m clause to complete a permanent move next summer. The Serie A champions have scheduled the medical test today. Napoli is expecting to have Højlund by Sunday morning.

Højlund endured an abysmal display last season, scoring only 4 goals in 32 games. He failed to score in a 21 run of games in his allegedly last season at Old Trafford. Ruben Amorin is restructuring his attacking force by signing three forwards this summer.

The United manager excluded the striker in all four games since the start of this 2025/26 campaign. He even started Maso Mount as a number nine in the opening match against Arsenal.

AC Milan had a strong interest in Højlund earlier in the summer. But Napoli turned their attention to the Denmark International after an injury to Romelu Lukaku, ruling him out for several months.

The 21-year-old’s career at Manchester United could be over just two years after joining for £64m from Atalanta. He follows the steps of already departed members of the United squad. Alejandro Garnacho has signed for Chelsea for £40m, while Antony is edging close to Real Betis.

Marcus Rashford left the club early this summer for Barcelona. And there is a chance for Kobbie Mainoo to find a new challenge elsewhere. The same goes for Andrea Onana, who is unclear about his future inside Old Trafford after rumors of a new goalkeeper coming in.

Former Atalanta star returns to Serie A to play for Antonio Conte’s side. He will have a chance to play in the Champions League this season.
