They remain the only two teams in the English Premier League with a perfect start to the new campaign. Liverpool and Arsenal face each other in GW3.
The League holders collected 6 points from Bournemouth and Newcastle United. Scoring 7 goals while conceding 4 in the process.
The Premier League runners-up started their campaign away to Old Trafford. Managing to secure a narrow 1-0 victory against Manchester United. The Gunners went on another step in GW2, scoring 5 goals against the newly promoted side Leeds United.
The North London side remains the only team in the EPL with a perfect clean sheet from the two games played. Up next, a tricky trip to Anfield.
Arsenal have established a strong team to play these kinds of games. Make no mistake, playing at Anfield is not an easy game. Mikel Arteta’s side have neither won nor lost at Anfield in a league game since the 2021/22 season.
What an atmosphere it would be to introduce their number nine in this clash of Titans. Hugo Ekitike scored in both games already. He is hungry and fired up to continue his goal-scoring form today. Arsenal’s own number nine has two goals in one game. It’s a dream for Arteta to go to Anfield with a proper striker like Viktor Gyökeres.
Arsenal will be without their star man, Bukayo Saka. The English International picked up an injury in a 5-0 victory against Leeds. Kai Havertz is another attacking player to miss the game. Martin Odegaard and Ben White have a small chance to make it.
Liverpool will miss the services of Jeremie Frimpong down the right-hand side of the defense. He is the only notable absentee to face Arsenal.
Attacking Threat
Both teams have quality attacking players to impact the game. It is well known from Liverpool’s point of view that the attacking threat lies on the right-hand side with Mohamed Salah.
Cody Gakpo and Hugo Ekitike have shown some brilliant performances at the start of the season. This is a huge boost in Liverpool’s attacking process, which often looked like it heavily depended on Salah’s good day on the job.
While missing Bukayo Saka, Arsenal will have to rely on other players to show what they made off at Anfield. Gabriel Martinelli is one of the attacking options for Arsenal. Although he didn’t have a good start this season, he always finds a Liverpool game to be more interesting, considering his style of play.
If given a nod, he could kick-start his season right away and cement his place for Mikel Arteta’s side. Arsenal fans could have a chance to see their new signing from Crystal Palace, Eberechi Eze. They still have Noni Madueke to throw in the mix.
Will it be another draw? Maybe a long-awaited Arsenal win at Anfield. Or, perhaps a dominant victory for the home side.
