Manchester United is increasingly confident of securing the signing of Benjamin Sesko. The Slovenian striker is one of the most highly rated players in his position in Europe.
United have shifted their focus to Sesko after missing out on Viktor Gyokeres, who signed for Arsenal, and a disappointing response from Aston Villa about Ollie Watkins.
Sesko became a potential target for Manchester United after RB Leipzig dropped their asking price to £70m. The figure was £87m at the start of this summer transfer window.
Newcastle United is another club in England looking closely at this situation. The Magpies are in the battle of their own to keep Alexander Isak. The Swedish striker is on Liverpool’s radar.
If Isak were to leave the club this window, Newcastle United is ready to bid for the Slovenian International. But for now, Benjamin is believed to be sold on the idea of joining the Red Devils.
Ruben Amorim is looking to add some attacking talent to his squad. Having spent a huge amount on recruiting Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo from Wolverhampton and Brentford, respectively.
Rumors have been circulating, suggesting that there is a possibility of an exchange of players. RB Leipzig is interested in Rasmus Hojlund and is willing to propose a deal to Manchester United as a possible replacement for Benjamin Sesko.
Amorim publicly praised the Red Devils striker for his ability to hold defenders and bring others into play. He then went further, “ I’m really happy with Rasmus. I don’t know what is going to happen until the end of the market.” Ruben Amorim
Hojlund’s time in Old Trafford did not meet everyone’s expectations, especially United’s fans. The Dane managed to score just 4 times while his team finished 15th in the Premier League last season.
Sesko’s potential.
At just 22 years old, Benjamin has already featured in six seasons in the German top tier. He started at 17 years old, representing RB Salzburg in the 2020/21 season, scoring 13 goals and 5 assists in 33 Bundesliga games last season.
Standing at 1.95 m, Sesko is a real threat in the air. Providing an alternative in attacking and clearing incoming crosses when defending set-pieces. Something Mikel Arteta saw before expressing his desire for his services.
Benjamin is not finished article yet. He is not a prolific goal scorer either. But some of his attributes relay a strong message to Teams that play a certain style. He can hold the ball well up front. Bringing players into the motion of play and stretching the defence with his runs.
Newcastle United plays a strong game in the Premier League. One of the things that suits Sesko’s game. In Manchester United, he may play the same role as Rasmus Hojlund or Joshua Zirkzee.
Arsenal is different from both teams. They like their number nine to engage in a couple of interchanging passes, receiving the ball deep to allow the wide player to attack. The perfect Kai Havertz experiment.
Now, United is confident of signing Sesko. He can endure the physical battle of the game with his body frame, Good athleticism, and powerful shot in his legs.
